I better understand Premier Pro and Audacity as tools to edit video and music. Before this project, I had only heard of verbatim theatre, but I have a greater understanding of the process of it and how to turn interviews into performances. I've also learned that art and performances can still be created virtually, with groups distant from each other, and during a crisis. By using Zoom, I learned how to communicate and collaborate virtually and I feel more prepared to teach a lesson virtually if needed in the future. For this project, we will primarily using clips of ourselves performing verbatim interviews. The purpose of this is to honor those in the interviews and bring the text to life with our performance. This footage will be broken up between different sections including: what was lost, what was gained, life before, during, and after. We hope this keeps the audience engaged. We will also be using videos of Matt walking and having it transition into landscape footage. This is to reflect the feeling of being lost and like there is no set path. We will be coupling this with "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein to emphasize the idea of coming to the end of what we know and stepping out into the unknown.

There will be soundscape elements of Matti walking on a sidewalk to create a throughline. We will be beginning with a video definition of the word 'loss' spoken with a computer-generated voice . This voice will be used throughout the video because it is engaging and unique. We have decided to end the video with ocean sounds because the vastness and universality of loss.
